east tennessee motor stuff

where to start? maybe with a ride in the van going in no particular direction. i see things and sometimes meet people. you’ve read about “pistol pete,” and i am glad to say i met a man, his son, and wife who did not judge me for looking like a new orleans vampire.

the sky is orange. the clouds are purple. the trees are more than brown sticks in the sky. they flutter green and the air is warm, fresh, and my view is tranquil.

first, i found this:

looks nice. i want to add a leaf spring or two and tow my bike behind it. it’ll look aggressive and when towing, it ought to be able to handle the load. it’s got a 289, if i am to believe the designation on the fender. it’s red inside. immaculate. i wanna buy it.

we’ll see….

whilst wandering around i saw a worn out sign that said “robert’s cycle and repair.”

screech! vroom! had to make a u-turn on a 50mph highway. easy. all while i was sipping a malt liquor – if you believe that or think i am living down my bad reputation – petting my dog, and thinking about how cool i am. may *** forgive me.

robert was a good man with a ton of bikes laying around. some for clients, some he wouldn’t tell me how much he’d sell them for.

i replied, “they’re for sale, but you’re emotionally attachded to them.”

the sweet old man nodded his head and i cordially laughed, being the smarta*s i am, but not wishing to offend him.

his son was young and learning. his wife had a basket of eggs from their great chicken roost where dogs four feet tall jumped at me. i walked up to them because what, like i shouldn’t have been mauled buy a dog to death by now? they had geese, turkeys and other critters running around. they made me feel comfortable and i enjoyed my time speaking with robert, who i would trust to work on any metric bike. even if it would take a few weeks.

or months.

he brought up how yamaha’s are popular. ha! i showed him what i had in pieces in the van.

there is so much to tell, as i was there almost an hour, but was glad to not be unfailry judged. the family who runs this biz is good by by me. they mad me feel good by them.

you can find robert’s cycle at robertscycle.us or by emailing robertscycle at yahoo dot guess what.

tell him the madman with “FRREEDOM OR DEATH” tattooed on his neck recommended him. i looked into his eyes. i shook his hand.

his son needs to learn the value of a handshake, though. but he’s young. punk kids.

robert and i spoke of “pistol petes” and i told him how “i was politely asked to leave.” he laughed and said, “he’s like that.”

i replied, “must be nice to be an a*s and still make a living.”

then i bowed my head.

robert also had one of these:

okay. that is not going to make me friends, but it’s what you come here for. i can say nice things about a**holes or tell it like it is.

regardless, robert told me enough to know he can work on anything metric. anything. got a question? call. see something you like? ask how much. he’s a gentleman who will treat you right.

we spoke about shipping. he knows how to help you. as i showed him my bike, he smiled and listened as i regaled him about wanting 7″ trail and getting 12. he nodded knowingly as i said, “we’re rebuilding it.”

he smiled again.

visit robertscycle.us or 865.435.4804. he has a lot of honda twins, goldwings, kawasaki twins, and more. sitting there.

i also found a red tractor. not at robert’s. simply sitting by the road.

if i buy that car, i work that tractor. who has land i can grow hemp upon?

  1. Hey look! The tractor is a hardtail. The owner must be pretty badass. Needs pipe wrap on the exhaust header though. HAha.
