The British boutique auto maker Morgan Motor Company has decided to take their LIFECar from a prototype to production. That’s cool because it is not going to be just another monstrously expensive snootmobile with a giant motor. It’s going to be a moderately expensive snootmobile with a hybrid motor.
The hybrid drivetrain is being developed along with British universities, including Oxford. Morgan believes that the wealth of knowledge in their research departments will help them create a coupe that is part 1920’s roadster and part futuristic green machine. They foresee the LIFECar as an incredibly fuel efficient, low carbon output, easily recyclable automobile.
Some key figures for the LIFECar are:
- 1000 mile range
- Ultra lightweight (under 1600 lbs)
- 0-60mph in 7 seconds
- Under $60,000
