We got a cool email yesterday from a dude named Julian Cerri who is riding his Suzuki V-Strom 1000 dual-sport motorcycle from Alaska to the southern tip of South America and then back north though the States and Canada to end up in Miami.
He’s already ridden through 38 States and 4 Canadian Provinces, plus Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. Julian has traveled almost 40,000 miles (64,000 kilometers) on his enduro since he began his epic trek on July 23rd. He has endured medical scares, mechanical breakdowns and emotional epiphanies.
He’s getting married on March 20th and their honeymoon will be the second stage of the trip, back up Argentina, into Brazil, and through a bunch of remote South American towns that he says have never seen a motorcycle. Then Mexico, the USA and Canada.
Julian will eventually hit every state and province plus 27 countries and almost 200 cities while crossing the Andes four times. He’ll also cross the Amazon river, numerous deserts, jungles, and mountain ranges through every kind of weather. After riding to the Eastern edge of Canada in Labrador, he’ll cruise south down the East Coast and end in Miami.
In all, his trip will take him over 100,000 miles and two years to complete. He admits that so far the trip has brought him to tears. I can imagine a hundred reasons why. It’s a pretty badass endeavor.
