happy memorial day

Here's a flag-draped babe for the veterans. God bless you all.

Remember what America can do when we work hard and sacrifice for the common good.

And because babes rock, here is a photo of WWII Women Air Force Service Pilots.

Thanks for the poll votes everybody. The outcome was apparent after 24 hours.

blogger is a GFPOS

Blogger is a GFPOS (trying to cut down on the gratuitous cursing). In editing and moving stuff around, it deleted all the comments; about 50 in the past six months.

I saved the XML file of the site, up to the Honda cruiser post from last night, but when I import, blogger gives me some b.s. message about the posts already being there. Well no sh*t, Sherlock. I want the comments. Can't your half-assed software see that?

I'm trying to figure out how to get your comments back, guys. I will succeed. Give me a while. In the meantime:

I'll be happy to be done with blogger and get on WordPress some day...

honda's new v-twin cruisers

Got an email from Honda about a week ago. Seems their new 1300 cruisers are finally in the showrooms. Either that or sales suck and they're drumming up biz with the message "gawk responsibly." Geez. It's like a Baptist preacher wrote their marketing campaign.

You know, I kinda slammed Honda in this post from my second day as your mad editor, but you know what? Honda's rock. I've been riding since 1987 and the XS650 chopper we're building will be the first bike I've ever owned that's not a Honda.

(NOTE TO HONDA: please build a short and narrow air-cooled 700cc inline twin and me love you long time)

I have not made it to the local Honda dealership in Austin because they're douches, so I've got to cruise way up to Georgetown, which I might do this week to see them in person.

2010 honda sabre

It's my experience that these bikes will be comfortable, easy to maneuver, and for prices between $11,700 (the Stateline) and $12,800 (the Interstate), they're priced competitively with the Road Star S and the V Star 1300 Tourer, but the V Stars are dated.

I know I hammered the design of these bikes six months ago, but I'm coming around. These Honda 1300 cruisers have a much more modern edge about them. They're cool. Their design is clean. That's something to be appreciated.

Besides, they're water cooled and I gotta say, water cooled is the best. If you've ever ridden twice daily in Phoenix for a couple summers, you know what I mean.

All right. Go check them out.

[UPDATE 05.31.12: in two years the prices of these bikes have jumped about $450 each]
